To the subject of what I've learned.
#1 Write down your passwords to all of the different applications in a safe place immediately after installation.
#2 Taking on an "overload / extra class" during the last few weeks of trying to finish your Masters is not recommended.
#3 Simulations covering the topic of school and district improvement ("the game we played in class") can be very frustrating.
#4 Assume your students know nothing unless they demonstrate to the contrary.
Bill - I feel your pain about forgetting an important password. While doing some inservice training, I went to log into my teacher webpage and couldn't, for the life of me, remember my password to get into my account as I stand in front of 50 teachers trying to explain to them how to do a certain task on the webpage. How embarassing! Oh well! :)
ReplyDeleteI can also relate to feeling a bit overwhelmed as we are finishing up this grad program while still trying to get a handle on the start of the school year. It is definitely encouraging to see the light at the end of the tunnel and see how all of the time and hard work is going to pay off in just a short time! Hang in there!! I now it is overwhelming at times but you are only given what you can handle, right?
Bill,
ReplyDeleteI have a special notebook with all my usernames and passwords...or I should say HAD a spcial notebook. Since starting the school year i lost it! LOL I should have kept it somewhere on my computer. Now I'm going struggling to recall usernames and passwords from the last year. Ugh!
I'm also in awe of your overload schedule. I couldn't image trying to teach, take on the overload which is also an online course and finish up the program. How has the start of the year been for you? any words of wisedom for those of us not yet teaching online? :) I'd love to hear about how its been going.
